Record Weekend Rainfall Soaks Milwaukee and Southeast Wisconsin

CBS 58 meteorologist Justin Thompson-Gee reports that Milwaukee and surrounding communities received significant rainfall over the weekend, including a new daily rainfall record for September 19.

Milwaukee recorded 1.49 inches of rain Saturday and 2.59 inches since Friday, while some communities in southeast Wisconsin received considerably more. Pewaukee approached 6 inches, Pleasant Prairie exceeded 5 inches, and numerous locations received between 2 and 5 inches.

For property owners, the concern does not necessarily end when the rain stops. Heavy rainfall can introduce moisture into basements, crawl spaces, wall cavities and other areas that may not dry as quickly as visible surfaces. AuntieGen will follow this story with an Ask AuntieGen article examining what happens inside a building after significant water intrusion and when a wet-building problem can become an indoor environmental concern.
